Bud Up & Show Off

We couldn't be more excited for the upcoming spring season. Despite the recent rain causing some problems, we know that it's all for the greater good as it brings new life to the earth and plants we rely on. As the world re-balances itself with the wet soil, we look forward to new growth in the coming months. At our nursery, we've been keeping a close eye on our plants as they prepare to bud and bloom. One plant that we're particularly excited about is the Nandina Obsession. This compact 3x3 mound is perfect for both container gardens and in-ground planting. Its bright red and green foliage makes it a standout at any time of the year. Additionally, other plants like Magnolia and Redbud are also getting ready to bloom, making it a beautiful time of year to see how nature works and how the world re-balances itself with wet soil to bring on new growth.

We’re very excited about this coming year. This rain has caused some issues for a lot of us, but we can’t be too mad because, at the end of the day, it’s needed. Rain brings new life into the ground we walk on and the plants we grow for this upcoming spring. Spring is a beautiful time of year to see how mother nature works and how the world re-balances itself with wet soil to bring on new growth. Our plants are working hard to bud up to show off their magnificent spring blooms, but until then we have budding plants about to come out of dormancy and evergreen shrubs that are loving all this cooler weather.

One plant that looks amazing is our Nandini's. My personal favorite is the Obsession, with its mature size being a perfect compact 3X3 mound, making it fantastic for a container or in the ground. And with bright red and green foliage, this stunner is sure to catch everyone’s eye at any time of the year. We have a couple of sizes of the Obsession, but our #2 are about 14 inches in height and 10 inches in width. If red and green isn’t the color, you’re looking for check out the Nandina Lemon Lime (it looks just like it sounds).

We also have some sticks with some buds coming along. We have a couple of dormant flowering trees that are starting to swell up with blooms. Magnolias are an amazing choice for anyone who is looking to plant a flowering tree. It comes in a wide range of colors, sizes, and bloom shapes. Another spectacular alternative would be our Redbud tree (Cercis canadensis). The redbud will also have many shapes, sizes, and colors but they will all have a beautiful bloom that covers the whole tree making everyone stop and stare.
